Our story

OUTLAND ENTERTAINMENT is a publisher, located in Kansas City, Missouri, with a focus in fiction, comics, original graphic novels, and games. Beginning in 2008 as a creative services house, we’ve since worked with clients all over the United States and the world to bring their ideas, concepts, and projects to life through illustration, design, and narrative storytelling.

In 2014, we decided to take all our years of experience developing projects for clients and plunged into publishing our own books and games. We have a deep passion for trans-media, so the majority of our projects are planned to be released in different media, comics, graphic novels, games, and fiction as well.

In 2017, Outland Entertainment acquired Ragnarok Publications and brought an incredible library of intellectual property, anthologies, and a distribution deal through Independent Publishers Group (IPG) into the fold. We are currently in talks with several other distributors to carry our games and comics.

How do you pick the artists/authors for my project ?

After we discuss your project, Outland assembles your creative team by showing you a lineup of artists or authors that fit your project’s specific needs. You simply pick the ones you like best. Availability and rates vary from artist to artist, so we also take your budget and schedule into account when we make suggestions.

How much will it cost ?

There are so many variables that it’s impossible to provide a price list. Unlike other project management companies, we do everything we can to accommodate your budget, even if it’s tight. We’ve worked for a huge variety of individuals and organizations: CEO’s, government agencies, day laborers, college students, etc. We strive to provide professional quality, affordable artwork while paying artists a living wage. Contact us and we’ll get back to you with an estimate. Don’t be shy!

Can you help me publish my book ?

We do everything we can to help you achieve your goals, whether it’s writing the pitch you show to publishers or creating a game plan for profitably self-publishing. There’s no guarantee that your project will get picked up or make loads of money, but we give it our best. Many of our clients have successfully published and self-published the projects we managed. Interested in digital publishing? Contact us.

Can I choose a specific artist/author for my project ?

Absolutely! Feel free to request a specific artist/author from our lineup or suggest a new one. Our goal is to build your ideal creative team, and we’re always open to working with new talent.

How long will it take ?

Again, there are so many variables that we can’t tell you how long the process will take until we discuss the details. At the beginning, we’ll figure out an appropriate timeline with milestones along the way. One of the advantages of working with a project management company is that we stop at nothing to ensure that your deadlines are met. That’s not to say unexpected issues can’t arise, but we’ll be with you every step of the way.

What happens if I'm not happy with the work ?

Nearly all of our clients come back to us, and here’s why: We guarantee our work. You’ll have ample opportunities to review drafts and request revisions at every stage of development. That solves 99% of all problems. If there are unforeseen circumstances, such as your artist getting sick and falling behind, we work with you to find a substitute and a fair outcome. Your interests and investments are protected in the agreement we all sign beforehand.
